PUBLIC PROFILE

CTE Professional development Home

The mission is to provide students with a Career and Technical Education (CTE) career pathway that starts in grade nine (9) and culminates in the attainment of an industry recognized credential, a high school diploma and an associate’s degree in up to five (5) years. Dual enrolled credit will begin in the 11th grade with exceptions individually approved by the college president. The program is offered at no cost to the student and includes Work-Based Learning experiences such as, but not limited to, mentorships and paid internships designed to prepare students for positions in an identified career field. Dual enrollment tuition, fees and necessary instructional resources will need to be paid by the local school division.

Video Training Series for Administrators

Fifteen training sessions will be held during the 2020-2021 school year for new and experienced CTE administrators. The goal is to provide sustained professional development on the responsibilities of the CTE administrator, identify resources and provide support throughout the school year. All CTE administrators are strongly encouraged to participate.

VACTEA Annual Conference

The purpose of the Virginia Association of Career & Technical Education Administrators (VACTEA) is to provide leadership which will promote the effectiveness of career and technical education as in integral part of the total education program for youth and adults in Virginia. Each year an annual conference is held to serve as a stimulus for new ideas and approaches for local programs and to promote effective program planning, financial management, and data reporting.
