Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) is the third largest school division in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Established in 1870, LCPS is located in the rapidly growing Washington metro-area. Loudoun County is the fastest growing county in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Each year, LCPS opens one to three new school facilities to accommodate our growing student population.

LCPS students earned an average SAT score of 1173 (592 Reading and 581 Math). The LCPS Class of 2020 had 54 National Merit Semifinalists and an on-time graduation rate of 96.8 percent. They earned more than $48.2 million in scholarships.

Accreditation was waived by the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) in 2020 due to the pandemic, but 100 percent of LCPS schools were fully accredited in 2019. LCPS has a nearly $1.3 billion operating budget and prides itself on competitive starting teacher salaries.

U.S. Census data reports that Loudoun County holds the top spot in America for the county with the highest household income at $135,842. In 2019, Smart Asset.com ranked Loudoun County the happiest county in America, using an index that considers metrics including physical health, family stability and economic security. Loudoun County is a hub for the high-tech industry. Loudoun County Economic Development estimates that 70 percent of the world’s internet traffic passes through Loudoun County’s “Data Center Alley.”

LCPS serves more than 81,000 students in 95 facilities. We operate 17 high schools, 17 middle schools, 59 elementary schools and two educational centers (Academies of Loudoun and Douglass School).
